For the analog / digital project, my concept was very simple.
Analog was represented through a real-life picture, with no modification, and digital was its transformation in both pixels and virtual world at the same time.
I wanted to make mirror images and a metaphor with real life and dreams and imagination.
All our dreams are inspired in some way by things we see in real-life, but we transform and distort these things to give them new meanings.
Furthermore, I took as a digital basis the way 80s videogames presented graphics, in low resolution, few colors and very pixellated. I'm still fascinated today by how these very blocky and simple graphics were able to stimulate the imagination at the time, and how today videogames have such movie-like graphics that our imagination has a lesser role in filling in the void.
My analog picture was this one:
And my original digital representation was this one:
After doing this first one above, I realized I really enjoyed the process of drawing pixels by pixels, because since it was such a simple technique that wasn't meant to be realistic and beautiful, I was able to play more with concepts and ideas, and just let loose, have fun.
So I did two more drawings using the same techniques. These two drawings I was inspired by elements from the first one. They are kind of connected through my imagination, like when we say one word it makes us think of something, and this new word evokes a new idea etc...

First Projet
My initial idea for this project is to translate analog pictures into digital pictures.
For this, analog pictures will be real-life pictures (for starting out, I will use desert pictures from a recent trip in Arizona) and digital pictures will be inspired from NES 8 bits and Super NES 16 bits graphics. I'll try to use the same pixel resolution and color palettes from these systems, just to see if it's possible to create a drawing that stimulate the imagination with such limited means. I also want to experiment with grid systems.

My usual way of doing things...
Hello
I first joined this class for personal interest and out of curiosity. I'm really interested in technology and digital graphics, and I just want to learn everything there is to learn about this.
Usually, I'm a traditional artist who mostly paint and draw. I usually like to draw and paint deserts and out-of-this world landscapes. I also enjoy drawing animals such as insects and jellyfishes.
Here are some examples of what I usually do.
I usually get my inspiration from pictures of landscapes and nature. I also get inspired by music (my musical tastes range from NIN and Slipknot to Pink Floyd), movies (Lost Highway) and album cover art (especially those done by Storm Thorgerson). I also enjoy video games, especially those that create their own special ambiance through a mix of graphics, music and storyline context (Killer 7). Finally, I'm inspired by poetry, especially by Jim Morrison (The American Night).
For this course, I'd like to get out of my comfort zone and try styles I never tried before. I want to attempt to get my inspiration from unusual sources that I'm not used to, and not be afraid to make a ugly drawing.
